Performance Analysis of Thresholding Techniques in Hyperanalytic Wavelet Transform based Denoising

Abstract

Image denoising algorithms may be the oldest in image processing. Many methods, regardless of implementation, share the same basic idea – noise reduction through image blurring. In this paper, we propose the use of a recently introduced implementation Wavelet Transfrom, namely, the Hyperanalytic Wavelet Transfrom (HWT), in association with wavelet threshold techniques already used with the Discrete Wavelet Transfrom (DWT). The result is a very simple and fast image denoising algorithm. Some simulation results and comparisons prove the performance obtained using the new method.
